What is High-speed Data Center Interconnect?

High-speed Data Center Interconnect (DCI) is the networking technology and infrastructure that connects data centers to each other over high-speed links. It enables the seamless and efficient exchange of data and information between multiple data centers, whether they are located in the same geographical area or distributed across different regions.

High Speed

High-speed connections, often using fiber optic links and high-capacity networking equipment to ensure fast data transmission.

Redundancy

Redundancy is crucial to ensure the reliability of DCI. DCI solutions incorporate path diversity to prevent downtime in case of failures.

Low Latency

DCI networks are designed to minimize latency, ensuring that data can be transferred quickly between data centers.

Scalability

Designed to scale to meet the growing demands of data transfer between data centers as the need arises.

Security

Security measures, including encryption, are employed to protect sensitive data during transit between data centers.

Cloud Connectivity

Important for connecting on-premises data centers to cloud-based resources, such as connecting an organization’s data center to a cloud service provider.

At Starview, we understand the challenges of today’s complex networks. As a leading Value-Added Distributor, we provide comprehensive solutions for a wide range of networks, spanning from WDM, SD-WAN, cloud, and broadband to 5G and wireless. 100G Transceivers Applications in Data Center Interconnect

  • In leaf-spine data center network architecture, 100G transceivers are used as a bridge from the aggregation layer to the core layer.
  • The closer to the top layer of the architecture, the greater the data transfer capacity.
  • For small data center interconnects over short distances, 100G DR modules are a cost-effective and capacity-suitable option.
  • 100G optical modules and cables are employed to achieve 100G leaf-spine data center connectivity.
  • In highly-interconnected data centers, high-speed and large-capacity transmission is crucial.
  • 100G ZR modules support point-to-point links with up to an 80km transmission distance, suitable for metro area networks and large enterprise applications.
  • 100G coherent optics are ideal for transmission over 80km, providing a high-capacity data center interconnect solution.
Packetlight

100G Transceivers Applications in Data Center Interconnect

At Starview, we work closely with our WDM vendor – PacketLight Networks to provide high capacity, pay-as-you-grow architecture for Data Center Interconnectivity solutions. We deliver convenient and comprehensive consultancy and professional services for optimal network deployment to help you focus on what matters – driving growth in your business. Starview’s pool of ICT experts can help you design, deploy and manage a cost effective and reliable networking solution.
PacketLight Networks allow full optical layer one transport solution, including ROADM, optical amplifiers, transponders, muxponders,  and network management in any network topologies

Multiplexing with WDM

  • Low cost initial setup targeted at future growth
  • Low incremental cost pay-as-you-grow architecture
  • Easy scaling of WDM systems
  • Easy upgrade to support 1G/10G/40G/100G/400G services
  • Seamless upgrades that do not affect network traffic
  • Reliable, secure, and ITU G.709 standard-based architecture
  • Simple to install and maintain
  • Full performance monitoring
  • Support for Layer-1 encryption per wavelength or service

Layer 1 Encryption

For critical network infrastructure that requires high level of security, layer 1 encryption to FIPS 140-2 and Common Criteria EAL2 can be enabled on PacketLight devices for the WDM transmission. You can concurrently run your MAC Sec Layer-2 and IP Sec Layer 3 encryption through the Layer-1 encryption without changes to your network security infrastructure. Another key advantage of security is to stop the data transmission and alert the user should fiber tapping is detected.

Quantum Key Distribution

With the growing sophistication of cyber threats and the development of quantum computers, PacketLight’s DWDM/ OTN devices are ideal for the integration of QKD technology. Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) harnesses the principles of quantum physics to secure the transmission of sensitive data, resistant to eavesdropping and hacking attempts.

Packetlight receives the quantum keys from a QKD Key Management Entity (KME), via standard secured REST API. KME generates a list of constantly evolving keys to provide the highest security between 2 nodes.
