Demand for data-intensive applications in data centre is increasing, and the usage of optical transceivers has become important. Optical transceivers are an essential component for high-speed data transfer in cloud computing, consisting of compute, storage, and network. The speed and efficiency of data transfer are critical to ensure the operation of applications and services.
One of the common connectivity for high-speed networking is our Starview 100G QSFP28. The QSFP28 consists of either 10 lanes of 10Gbps or 4 lanes of 25Gbps. In order to achieve reliable transmission, the module must be used with the correct fiber media. The optical lanes inside the QSFP28 module are either transmitting via multiple fiber lanes or multiplexed into single fiber lane. The multiplexing technique is also dependent on the transmit wavelengths of the module. A LWDM (stands for LAN WDM) consists of 1295/1300/1305/1310nm wavelengths, while a CWDM (stands for Coarse WDM) consists of 1270/1290/1310/1330nm wavelengths. A more typical usage of QSFP28 for singlemode application is LWDM with LC connector, while for multimode is multiple fiber lanes with MPO connector.
