What is the difference between
Legacy Transceivers and LPMode Transceivers?
With increasing data rates, a 64 x 100Gbps network switch requires 400W of power consumption. A typical 100Gbps transceiver module requires approx. 4.5W power, and the total power consumption required for the transceiver modules is (64 x 4.5W) = 288W. Starview 100Gbps modules consumes 3.5W power and can reduce the total power consumption to (64 x 3.5W) = 224W. That is a 64W of power saving!

- Multi Mode Fiber, usually orange, cyan or purple color
- Single Mode Fiber, usually yellow color

- 850nm signals can only go around 200m
- 1310nm signals can get up to 40km
- 1550nm signals can exceed 40km

The photonics comprises the optical components for TOSA (Transmitter Optical Sub Assembly) and ROSA (Receiver Optical Sub Assembly) to eliminate the need for optical lenses and shorter transmission path. The approach of this reduction lowers the power consumption for the TOSA as well as the heat dissipation.
